CENTRAL KENTUCKY REINING HORSE ASSOCIATION
EXECUTIVE BOARD and GENERAL MEMBERSHIP
May 5, 2008

The Central Kentucky Reining Horse Association met on Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Golden Corral in Georgetown, KY at 7:00 p.m.  The meeting was called to order by President, Mal McGuire at 7:05 p.m.  Board members present were Mal & Jeanne McGuire, Bryan Melcher, Alan Frye, John Milchick, Cassie Brown and Polly Hilliard.  Members present was Kara Gray Frye & Kristy Milchick.

TREASURER’S REPORT
Polly gave the treasure’s report.  Cassie Brown made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and Jeanne McGuire seconded it.

MINUTES-
The minutes from the April meeting had been posted on the web site.  Bryan Melcher made a motion to accept the minutes and Mal McGuire seconded it.

OLD BUSINESS

Fun Show –
Mal had inquired approximately a month ago about having the Fun show at Masterson Station and they have not sent the contract yet.  The date was available, the price is $150/day, the club would have to pay to drag and water the arena ourselves.  At this late date, without a contract, it was decided not to have the Fun show this year.

NEW BUSINESS

Slide For the Roses –
The entries and stalls were down from 2007.  The Fun class and dog class both brought in $110. each.  The silent auction, with very nice items, brought in $589.50.  There were 35 paid warm-ups for $525.00. Even with all the extras the club still lost $2300. 

Shows - 
To help with the financial outcome of CKRHA shows, there was a motion made by Jeanne to get sponsors for the trophy fees.  Kristy will email a flyer and Polly will snail mail members without email addresses asking for trophy sponsors.  Jeanne will call and ask for sponsors at shows, etc.  Jeanne will keep track of trophy sponsors for Luau Slide.  There was a motion made by Alan Frye to add an office charge for each horse at a show, whether showing or not.  The motion was accepted and seconded by John Milchick.

Youth –
To get more youth involvement, the board discussed having a youth program with a parent to help direct it.  There was a motion made by Jeanne for Kara to call Shannon Hill to see if she is interested in being director of a youth program. 
CKRHA will donate $100. to the Youth Team Tournament which is held at the Tradition.  Polly will mail check to Linda Raymond.

Luau Slide –
There will be a Rookie Pro with $100 added both days.  Primetime Non Pro will have $200 added both days.  Novice Horse Open will have $500 added both days.  Paid warm-ups will be from 4-6 pm and 7-?.         

Mal made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:15 p.m.   Alan Frye seconded it.
